This Album is magical and the song ‘West Coast’  and it’s film clip feat. Mark Gonzales (one of many gods of skating) is proper awesome as an installation at the Stadtisches Museum Abteiurg (read: German Museum), filmed and then edited in retrospect.

James Blake is just amazing. An electro artist I have only just stumbled on. It is worth every cent of the purchase price and more.

I was listening to my local radio station which usually just plays popular music, like Nicki Minja’s latest dive bomb, don’t  get me wrong. I love Nicki Minaj, but only when she is doing what she does best. Anything but dance music.

James Blake seems to be able to capture a million human emotions in 3 minutes of glitch style electro ballads, that are just beautiful.

His music is just amazing. That is all I can say. The Lyrics are short soft, almost haiku, of only a brief glimpse of information that you need to be enveloped into the songs.

I cannot recommend this album and his EP enough.

Go and get it where you can, although this time I will promote you get it through iTunes.

His website is amazing too. Link up the top of this post. Please support and listen to awesome music like this. Help free the world from people that are getting paid far too much money like the wanna-be rapper Professor Green.

This month is a little different. Haven’t been able to rock the normal metal, glitch beats that is normally on high resolution, instead taking a bit of a wind back. Currently on rotation are the following glorious creations.

20120223-163106.jpg

The reinvention of Lizzy Grant is one that hasn’t gone unnoticed, well we have no love for the haters, Lana Del Rey is awesome on this disc, what ever name she takes, especially on tracks like Radio, Lolita, and This is what makes us girls, makes me me want to be a girl it is so romantic.

20120223-163504.jpg

Tinie Tempah. I do love to hate, like a hipster gangster rapper, but this album is just full of addictive beats and lyrics, except for Pass Out. I’m pretty done with that one.

Ok. I have jumped on the band wagon. But all I can do is advise you to download this album plug it in to what ever sound system you have, even the Honda jazz one and turn it up really loud. The kind of loud that hurts a little. Tracks like Right In and the title track are amazing. It is like a electronic heavy metal version of southern rock. Amazing. If if teamed up with a YouTube clip of Christmas lights.

Just heard Zoe’s Album in a shop today. It was unbelievable. So nice on your ears like one of those fluffy blankets we all coveted as children. Go and support this young artist by buying her album, not as a charity case but to show support for musicians who actually make their own music from a place in their soul that has never heard about 808 drum beats or $4000 per hour mastering.

Well that is what is being heard at the moment by the ears of the writer of this blog. Go get them if you haven’t already, if you have thank you for the tweet or Facebook post that lead me to obtain the albums mentioned, happy listening.

Skream – Outside the Box:  found this gem, (probably  after everyone else in the world) whilst watching the Vimeo Stream on our new Smart Samsung TV. It accompanied a really beautiful film clip with the song, ‘Where you should be’ all tracks on this album are so good you want them burnt on ultra mini glass data discs and inserted under your skin. One per track of course.

probably have spoken about this band and album before. In line with my absolute love of Kashiwa Daisuke  - I found Mono when I was searching on Last FM fro similar bands and artists. They did not disappoint. Burial at Sea is a stand out.

Honestly, you know when a band covers a song and they do it better than the original, well not to force that argument but Lissie’s cover of Pursuit of Happiness a la Kid Cudi, comes real close. Like REALLY close. Album in total is great though.

Finally my digital fascination, Hatsune Miku, the band actually making the music are Supercell, for some reason I cannot stop listening to this computer generated cutie sign. Especially on tracks, World is Mine and Melt.

I don’t know why I just love it.

all really great bands/artist

The Music Industry. What have you become. Coldplay won’t save you

March 20, 2011

The music industry is concerned about piracy from the internet.

yeah I would download a car, or steal a piece of shit, but I also won’t be forced to pay record companies so they can continue to fund terrible, terrible music

Perhaps if they stopped releasing absolutely fucking ridiculous shit like this, people would stop downloading awesome  underground southern rock and hiphop from rocafella.

“7:45, we’re drivin’ on the highway
Cruisin’ so fast, I want time to fly
Fun, fun, think about fun
You know what it is
I got this, you got this
My friend is by my right
I got this, you got this
Now you know it”

sorry for the profanity but WTF?!?!?!?!!!!

remember. Auto tune is supposed to be dead. What happened Jigga?

Festivals. [Soundwave Sydney 2011]

March 6, 2011

Aside from Slayer not player due to Tom being sick and the ticket fiasco thanks to a very dishonest person names Annie in Byron bay. SOundwave this year was pretty amazing. I finally got to see Iron Maiden live. Complete with a giant mobile ‘eddie’ who cam out in the middle of their set only to be beaten back with pure english metal. tear jerking really, and not the ‘cry-wank’ kind either.

One thing I will never get about festivals though is the people that choose their attire especially for the day. I know all the bands are playing there, I know that aforementioned fact may make people a little excited. But to get dressed up especially is so strange to me. A little like the friends that every one has had at one stage that want every party they throw to be a ‘dress up as a pirate’ party. Come on we have all been there.

I really to admire the people that you just know, dress the same all year round then they go to a festival and people think they have dressed up. like this guy

When I asked him who he was there to see he replied “anything metal”

really cool guy

But on the flip side you get the attention seekers. I don’t understand why you would pay $180 to go to the festival with plenty of awesome bands only to walk around as an arthouse installation piece and not have any one filming peoples reactions to you or filming your interactions with people. Both of which would have made for a very entertaining Jaoquin Phoenix style Soundwave festival for every one.

This guy walked around all day in this neoprene suit. Maybe he was advertising for ‘morphsuits’ but you could hardly tell, and about 2 hours into the day he had done more walking around looking like a blow job doll due to the sweat from where there should have been a hole for his mouth than he had watched any bands.  His whole face was covered. But why?

This young girl was walking around sort of dressed as a pig, in a nude coloured suit with texta writing all over it. Written were this like “100% halal” and “the other white meat” oh and “little dirty pig”……you get it.

I just don’t understand it. No film crew no boys interested. Everybody thinking WTF. Maybe it was a statement from being teased at school but I just can’t work out why festivals are the place for this kind of thing? Or whether it is related only to metal festivals. I am sure however ths used to go on when I attended the Big day out, way back when I was still cool.

I will leave you with one last photo. People need to keep their tshirts on. I don’t care if you are ‘the situation’. Just please. keep your shirt on unless you are going swimming taking a shower or going to bed.

People don’t want to see it

That guys hairy, very hairy apron was not for show.

Undies on the outside speaks for itself.

I am no ultraconservative, but come on.

iPod Watch/Lunatik

February 26, 2011

It finally arrived in the post.

after waiting since December 2010 it finally came in the post on Thursday of last week. I have been waiting for this for quite some time.

If you haven’t already heard about it, a little before christmas last year the guys from MNML started a Kickstarter.com project to raise $15000 to put into production a cool watch band from the prototypes they had made for the iPod Nano 6th Generation.

They received pledges and backing to the tunes of $941,718. Pretty good huh?

These guys did not go the cheap path either. With two types of band up for grabs I chose the Lunatik. Aircraft Aluminium and tidy black rubber band, for wearing with a swagger of course.

I was planning on saving slowly for a Nano, but much to my own, and others disgust I went and purchased one today.

Whilst they were both a little costly. The total watch price was far less than that of an expensive fossil or medium priced dress watch, and far more functional. See I have a bit of a fetish for wrist watches which borders on addiction, and I have not been able to feed it for quite some time.

This was the perfect opportunity.

Any way on with the post.

T-’.ll v  /||o be honest I thought it may turn up wrapped in sticky tape and a note that said ‘here is your watch thing’  But the packaging was excellent and had that ‘new tech’ smell. All tools were included, and it was on par with the Apple packaging standard that they always live up to with iPod and iPhone products. Ditto for the nano packaging

As always the support that I provided by buying myself an awesomely cool watch is recognised, by Scott Wilson from MNML.

and the packaging although it is simple is very cool, before you open the box it gives you a sneak peak.

With the Nano out of the box and a quick undo of the screws on the watch band itself, I was ready to install, which was BASIC.

With everything in place, I have now got a fully functional wrist-based touch screen iPod, photo album, and watch which is very solid, light and pretty to look at!

iPod main screen^.

In the user settings of the iPod you can just set it to wake to clock. that way each time you want to check the time you just press the ‘wake’ button on the side. then if you want to access the other features of the iPod you can just tap the screen.

I am just a real sucker for gadgets, and besides the iPhone (any model esp 4) and the neoprene Niqab as mentioned in previous post (not that I own one) this is a really cool gadget, and for much less than the cost of a pretty cool watch you have 8gig of very functional storage on your wrist as well as an iPod.

Thus continues my turn to Apple products. Not sure what you guys think but I like this, and it is a little cooler than the $30 rubber ones for sale on eBay.

Compared to a normal watch like my excellent ‘Fossil’ watch which apparently kanye West is too cool to wear now (yes he is a very interesting person we are all thinking the same swear word)

And that is that.

I think its pretty cool.

In a short time I will do another post on MNML themselves, nearly all of their design is eye and brain candy.
