iPhone sleeping bags. So cozy.

March 1, 2013

So I figured it was time to combine my wallet and phone situation. It was getting to the point where I was going to have to exchange all the pants in my wardrobe with army fatigues to fit all the stuff I need to carry.
I wanted something a bit unique. Not Emo hair and Iron Maiden tshirt unique. A little more unique. Maybe Freddy Mercury’s opera song unique.

So I went to Esty. Hoping for no Regretsy.

I found these device wallets from Rockitbot.

They fit all your nerdy stuff in it. Headphones, USB, couple of cards and of course your phone.

The sellers on Etsy always seem to take care of the finer details. Making the purchase somewhat more personalised.

It even came with a cute little pencil. Which makes it a thousand times cuter.

The bow is perfect.
The wallet is cool. Fits the phone well without being too big and annoying. It has cut down my phone fiddling and the lining makes me feel a little like a hipster. It’s nice also to know that there probably isn’t another one in these colours around as they are hand made. Cute patterns me thinks.

It came with a little card holder but I haven’t used in order to cut down on bulk.

The wallets suits the purpose and I would highly recommend. They make the ‘Nerdherder’ for various phones. And with the excellent quality and personalisation of the the wrapping and packaging I would buy another for the theatrics alone.

Heads to Rockitbot‘s Etsy shop and buy buy buy. You’ll love it.

Now just to get a suit made in the same fabric and lining.

Pebble. E-Paper Amazingness

April 18, 2012

I just pledged for one of these. It looks amazing. I am not getting a colour one, just the jet black, and I  feel, it is my duty to tell all society about this.

What started as a $100000 kickstarter project now has 3.5 million dollars backing and will ship come September 2012, all still with 28 days of pledging to go.

The watch isn’t touch screen like my MNML Lunatik but instead crazy functional. To the point where I just couldn’t speak, and it integrates with your iPhone (or Android, whichever your persuasion).

What’s that?, Your phone just sent an email that was important, via Blue tooth to your ‘Dick Tracy style’ awesome watch?

I just cannot get over this one. Yeah, I could go and buy Sony’s new Android watch for around the same price but this watch interacts with my phone.

It should be a goodie, I will do a full review when it ships come September. An remember there are still plenty of pledges left, so you should go and get one.

Cardboard Arcade anyone?

April 11, 2012

I am buying a super-pass. I love Children’s’ imagination, especially the check code on the front of all the machines.

At our house. Gum leaves are ‘tickets’ and tree branches, are bad witch’s walking sticks.

Sometimes I get very hungry

March 8, 2012

Its true you know. Don’t you ever just get very hungry?…I’ll get straight to the facts. My Sister in law is a magnificent cook. Like proper magnificent, it runs in the family but she has a particular talent. We have been thinking about pushing her against her will into a book publishing store/business to ask them to let her do a book, but alas she we be in it. But, I do have some amazing news, she with help of yours truly has started her own website. Featuring none other than ……..Her Cooking, and sometimes on a daily basis.

The Push came the other day, we had just returned to their house for a visit after some time away travelling up the north coast of NSW. We had just finished Dinner. Sister in law in question says (not verbatim) something along the lines of  - “I should russell something up for dessert, what about some apple pie?”

Holy Fucking Shit.

After about 20mins of her and partner walking around as she likes to say to me ‘with the broom up their arses’ – alluding to the fact they have committed to too many tasks at once, out walk my sister with an apple pie. Not any ordinary apple pie mind you. A crazy apple pie. Perfectly stewed sweet apples glazed with the essence of brown sugar and southern american dreams, spread out on a most perfectly no perfect star shaped pastry. It resembled a beautiful Apple star like false god of deliciousness.

Here is a picture. We did not have time to take one at the start as it was too edible. We scoffed (?spelling) it.

Looks good huh?

This picture gives you a little bit of a reference point for how the whole tart/pie/thing was served up.

It was after we finished eating this (2 mins later  - I set my mouth to ‘Dyson Mode’) that Mrs Panda piped up “You should so start a food blog!”, the reply was “yeah maybe, do you think?”

It was all I needed, if she wasn’t about to do – Pandainabattlesuit.com would surely facilitate it, and so we did.

Please drum role – I would like to now redirect you all (after you finish reading my hilarious anecdotes of course to my sister in law’s new site.

I just <3 Food

This amazing blog will tempt you, and make your hunger worse and your taste buds swell and engorge. Best thing about it, is I get to eat a lot of it.

Please head over their and check it out, whilst it is only fledgling at present, it is sure to be great in the not too distant future.

Oh and here is some other pies I have had recently, whilst on leave.

All from an RSL club. Exquisit. soon to come I will post a bit of a photo montage re: the lovely surrounds of another trip (quite touristy) to Coffs Harbor

Stars, Sunset, Mountain, Skyline

Shut your eyes.

Now imagine you have just told yourself to go to bed. You walk across your perfect polished concrete floors, up your small ladder or stairs, through your little bedroom entry hole, yes entry hole, not door, lay down, and close your eyes, or keep them open because the view is far too perfect to shut them.

I guess this is what the Architects at this house a little bit had in mind. The sleeping retreats, each one of the four has its own unique out look.

The Four eyes house is not only beuatiful to look at, but as an inanimate object stimulates your brain by placing a context on other wise nothing spaces. Yes you can creat a bedroom that is spacious or a bedroom that is warm but these bedrooms, create a different environment all together that engages you visually.

It is just a really great idea.

I am a bit caught up looking at houses this week I am sorry.

More can be read about the Four Eyes House either via, Design Milk, or via the Amazing architect Edward Ogosta’s Site here

The idea is basically that all four bedrooms each have their own outlook, one being the sky and stars at night, one being the skyline of the near city, the 3rd being the mountain scape, and the final and fourth incorporating the horizon intune with the sunset.

Even the surrounding landscape is blended without theatrics or bizarre gardens, or succulents, it is just nice looking dirt, and a nice looking lap pool.

iPad 2. Bluetooth Key board. (am I a traitor?)

January 19, 2012

Perhaps this is a little attempt to call tablet computing out.  I love my iPad 2 but when typing away post one of my completely awesome posts well though out social commentary’s, I can’t help but think I would prefer a laptop key board instead of the on screen one. Never though i would say that.

So I splashed out, put an offer of $21 on ebay and ended up with this blue tooth keyboard come case, that I am sure rips off logitech in several patents.

It acts as a case, and seemingly fit as the smart cover I bought originally although very smart is starting to look a little bit tatty. Some would say it is from being used as a telescope midway though vegemite toast time, others would say that it is just well loved.

The keyboard/case is matt finish Aluminium, and looks exactly the same finish almost as the iPad

It seems pretty robust, but would be open to scratching just like any metal surface. Some little rubber feet would probably be my only recommendation, but you could buy a set of kicks from Blue Lounge

The angle of the iPad whilst in the support is quite comfortable  and connecting the keyboard via bluetooth to the iPad is very easy. As simple as typing a code and hitting enter, then off you go.

Whilst all the navigation is still touch screen, the keyboard has a home button for exiting apps and whilst using it the onscreen keyboard is disabled to that gives you that inch or two more screen size

The actual key board is quite good to use and the manufacturers have steered away from that horrible rubber only keyboard (like the roll up ones) to use a good functioning keyboard.

The key with the square is the substitute home key acting for the home button or five finger pinch gesture. Several other keys act as short cuts, like f5 for example switches to the photo slide show app.

Overall whilst I still do covet a Macbook Air, this will definitely suffice until the day when that happens.

I still do love the iPad and its minimal touchy goodness. Flipboard is hard to pass up, and you don’t need a blue tooth key board for that but when blogging, writing elongated emails, or doing some *real work* at home, this $21 investment has paid off.

It is powered by a L-ion battery, and come with a USB charging cable, when the battery starts to run down, a warning light comes on, it has an on – off switch, but also powers down if not in use after a short but reasonable amount of time.

Great buy for the price. and nice case and band-aid solution in place of a laptop.

I just can’t believe technology like this is just so affordable now.

Why Not for Adults?

January 19, 2012

Just the other day to treat ourselves we ventured to Wagamama’ s on Lime Street (Cockle Bay) in Sydney.  We frequent here a bit, it is like the McDonalds’  of Ramen/Japan fusion restaurants. Yep sure it is not the best Ramen/Chicken Katsu in the World, or even in Sydney I love you Gunshara*Whispers* But it certainly is tasty and the Moyashi Soba is great, big, and great, and the curry sauce for the katsu is also delicious.

However, this is not a food review, although it turned into one right there, about eleven words ago.

Mrs Panda raised a really good point. As we were seated, with team Turtle Small Fries’ they gave the kids colouring in paper, with cool pictures to colour and a whole jar of crayons.

“I don’t know why they don’t give these to adults”, she stated

Why don’t they give these to adults?

Probably the best question asked of 2012 already looking like a contender for the whole year.

I would definitely frequent a cafe/restaurant if they supplied paper and pencils/crayons/pens for your creative delight.  It would definitely be a great way to decorate. When you are at dinner, sure the conversation is good, and the company is great, so why not also have a little bit of creative fun.

It raises the question. Why?, or more so when?, do humans deem it fit not to be eligible for crayons and colouring in pictures of princesses and pirates. When we are 15 and too cool for anything other than Nintendo DS’ I am sure I would still like to draw my boyfriend/girlfriends name in a pretty heart, perhaps inspired by the latest art work on my favourite bands CD, and leave it on the table to display my love for them as a protest against the ‘man’ for not letting me buy the latest Dream on Dreamer CD.

Perhaps when we reach 25 we are too interested in our twitter TL (timeline) or our our face book TL to be creative. Perhaps this is why we are obsessed with social media, because all the iphoneography and funny status updates, is our way of being creative.

I was overjoyed to colour in and ‘doodle’ all over the menus and place mats at Wagamama’s. Why, I even helped the children draw a little.

I think if restaurants offered this to adults, they would love it. I am sure there is some restaurants already doing it that I don’t know about,  but also keep in mind, I don’t want to have to order a triple shot soya chino, with fair trade dust sprinkled on the top. Just to draw my version of batman crossed with a whale shark.

It is hard not to stray onto the topic of where do we lose our youth, some people never lose it, but in a way that just makes them 30 year old fuck ups.

I wish I could definitely say I still have mine, at the beating centre of my chest like some sort of freedom power source akin to Iron Man’s failing nuclear powered heart.

But I am ‘serious’ now, a dad, I like tech and sneakers, but trampolining has turned into something kids do, and pushing someone on the swings, although fun is now one of my functions.

Please restaurants, re introduce adult colouring in. Mrs Panda is full of great ideas, please utilise them.

Being threaten with legal action for voicing an uncontested opioion

No Place for Sheep.

What ever happened to being able to tell crazy right wing ‘anti everything’ activists to shut up.

This is in line with condoning the West Borough Baptist church’s views on anything, and funding them to act on any crazy notion they have.

Twitter, blogging, and other forms of social media give the people a voice. Whether it is an individual voice or one followed by a few thousand people.

Everyone deserves the right to have an opinion, but not the right to over react when disagreeing on one other than their own.

Friday night lights.

Walking around last night in the cool but very tolerable early evening Sydney air was just so good I had to write this.
China town on every other night including tonight has the best vibe. Maybe it has something to do with glorious foods on offer, the bustle of the night markets or the close quarter human contact with other people enjoying the same.
And can I tell you last night was no different. It was a complete eye fucking candy tour of one of the best parts of Sydney.
You can almost smell the ‘getting ready for CNY’ in the atmosphere.
Knowing that I can just get in the car with my team and walk around here, letting my two and four year old also enjoy the experience is magical. Not in a ‘Gandalf the white’ sort of way but more in a ‘Silvermist in a hipster dress’ sort of way.

20120114-145435.jpg

If you drop down this way. Dinner is sorted. Automatic and sorted. Dumplings. Steamed vegetarian dumplings. Not going to say they are the best in Sydney cause as far as dumplings go I am pretty sheltered.
China town’s colors fuck your eyes on any given night but combine them with CNY prep a nice evening sunset and a cool/war summers breeze and it is heaven.

20120114-150751.jpg

This picture inspired this post. It is rare that just having a fun happy experience can inspire a non sarcastic objective post for me any how.
Sydney does this every week end my team and I go for noodles or what ever.
The more I write this post the more when I read it back it sounds like babbling bullshit.
I don’t. Care this time.
Just stare at the pictures please.

Last night was a dream night in China Town Sydney. You should have been there.

Tiny Books of Goodness

January 13, 2012

Recently whilst looking for a better web platform for viewing my instagr.am account I stumbled up on a little company called Printstagr.am

They do all sorts of little printing jobs and formats only using your Instagr.am shots.

From there assortment of products many stood out to me but on one in particular grabbed my eye totally – I live tiny things, miniature things, not in a horder needs a clean out sort of way but in a way that they just make me simply happy.

So I went through the very easy task of logging into their site and creating these adorable little things.

They are great value for money, and if you have an Instagram account, I would be totally recommending you get some.

At only $10 for three little books, each with 24 beautiful scaled square little photos they make the perfect gift, or novelty item for your house.

Each one has a hardcover, the postage delivery time was a bit interesting, but considering that I ordered them pre christmas, not caring if they would be delivered for christmas or not I have to admit the wait wasn’t too bad. Just not the usual 6-7 days from CH or HK that your would expect.

Honestly, if this isn’t a reason to download the instagram app, and abuse it I don’t know what is. I just want to squeeze the little books cheeks and say “isn’t you cuuuuuute”

Each Book contains 24 photos, and they are magnetised, so they stay together like A Miniature bookshelf, or you can stick them to your fridge.

Honestly, these are great for a gift, or just a novel way to get your digital prints, into a common area that you can easily look, would be great tiny little digests for a short travel trip or party.

I cannot emphasize enough, how much I love tiny versions of things. Micro Machines were the start of the obsession I think.
