What a beautiful beautiful sight.

Absolute networking pornography.

Just bought this yesterday. In time for TPG to be absolutely fucked. Currently getting line speed around 150kb/s. Telstra here we come.

Reception is absolutely amazing and home network streaming is super fast.

Should’ve taken Cale’s advice a long time ago.

Billion 7800n for the win. Just joined the networking L33t.

Ron Moss, Beyond 2000… It was all true.

April 16, 2011

20110416-120330.jpg

I just didn’t believe it at the time. I don’t know why. Some thing about a balding ‘caesar type’ character aka. Ron Moss telling me, that’s right telling me that I would be using only a card to pay for things electronically.

Then on top of that telling me that I would be possibly getting to work on a jet pack and that we would do all work once at work on ‘personal computers’. Pffffft. What ever Ron Moss. If that is your real name. I suppose you are also going to tell me that there is no prototype hover board and that michael j fox was held up by strings. Yep. What ever.

Now I typing this on a tablet pc with more intuitive thought than most of the life guards at Sydney Olympic park and better design (totally arguable and just for emotional value and not my honest opinion) than Raymond Kappe and Frank Lloyd Wright put together actually no, I went too far. ‘Fallingwater’ cannot be beaten.

iPad is amazing. We have just purchased the iPad 2 after selling our quad core intel pentium core 2 q6600.

I am very happy with this choice.

With it went a 22″ screen. Why did we need a 22″ screen in the first place? Who knows? Prob just cause the man said and 22″ is better than 10″ right?

Now we have no wires. Not even from our modem router to the media centre (still AMD) now with six terabytes because it became surrogate for the drives donation from the HP but still ver much needed.

God help the world when apple catch up and invent a useable wireless NAS that is as easy to plug and play as me syncing photos between iPad and iPhone in 3 taps.

This simplicity is what the world needs. I don’t care that I am locked in, restricted to millions of apple only apps. Nor do I care that I can’t get turn by turn for free hacked. Nor do i care that I have to use iTunes as the host for iPhone and iPad. What I care about is when I want to use my iPhone as a phone it is just and only that. When it is a camera it is just and only that. But when you reach inside it’s magic hat of tricks the rabbit your pull out is not white. It is every colour you want and more.

I just saying iPad 2 is probably even better than I thought it would be. More functional than a pc on a non intricate level. My whole family can use it. Even the smallest 17months old. And I know for a fact her Nanny will be able to use it.

This really did turn into a rant. Wow sorry.

What I am trying to say is the rare occasion I do carry cash and the rare time at work where I do use a wire connected device to access the internet and the rare rare times I do use a skate board with wheels makes me think. Ron Moss I am so sorry. Your were just so right. About everything. We even have GPS. And it is inside our phones which are wireless. Crazy. Absolutely crazy. I just rang our children’s grandparents with a video phone last night on in electronic device not as big as a warehouse and it was with video feed and only slightly bigger than a piece of paper.

I am sorry for all the times I said “yeah right, sure Ron Moss sure well have reversing cameras in our cars”.

Technology is amazing. People should take a little more time to understand it. I think that is what is holding it back. The haters if you will. Just embrace it. I know all you “67.5ers” love those forward emails. And that’s all twitter is smaller faster versions of forward email, a current affair, a good mews channel, and the police scanner.

I have just ranted and raved and done all sorts of poor analogies and 3rd person speaking and I haven’t even mention technology’s beautiful design. That would of course be a post on it’s own.

Simplicity. Pure Simplicity.

April 9, 2011

Maybe except for the embedded pen and the ultra post modern design it would be classifed as simple.

John’s Phone is a beautiful and simple alternative to total tech immersion that is what you get with current smartphones.

we are hoping to review one in the flesh now that we have seen these beautiful people.

Every one in our team wants to have the most up to date tech products but also along side this urge grows one to regress into our shells and use purely functional bare necessaries.

Either way you go yourself. this phone is beautiful in another way.

the model pictured is the uprated business version that includes an address book (paper) in the back and a pen that is hidden like a stylus.

truly cool.

When windows fails in windows

March 27, 2011

Seen this the other day.

Thought it was a bit ironic that windows had failed in a window display.

good old windows. Can’t hate on Win 7 though. It has performed well and really impressed me. Doesn’t stop me from wanting to change to Apple though.

Guess its easy to take technology for granted, (even win 3.1) and not check whether it is taking care of business or not.

So the Note to self is, check all aspects of your shop if you are rocking technology because this is a real distraction even takes away from what your place of business is sell.

Rockin’ 3yo style. [Crayola Mp3 Player]

March 2, 2011

Friend at work just got this cool little kids size mp3 player. Sure it is no iPod nano watch, but it sure is cute and colourful, and easy to use for little turtles.

ear phones are hearing friendly ones, super cool colours every where, easy to use just like a memory stick for parents who aren’t super tech savvy

And nice big cool buttons. The display is not awesome, blue LCD backlit, but functional and would survive being dropped and throwm at siblings and pets etc quite a few times,

There are no crazy settings that can be adjusted, no volume limiter to protect hearing though.

And I still haven’t worked out what it has to do with crayons. Except for the fact you can record your own voice on it. So maybe you little team members could record them self a note….”make sure we draw a purple necklace on the orange dinosaur when we get home from the park”

Maybe

Either way, wiggles and fairies rocking out for the little peeps…??!whilst they crayon>?

Keyboard to die for [i don't mean 'the']

February 28, 2011

ever wish you could do away with your boring as fuck keyboard, and plug in a new one that is so fucking cool it could put your whole PC to shame. This is the Optimus Tactus.

Art. Lebedev Studio have made it.

It looks like a keyboard that you choose any Pantone that you want but then you find the next picture mind fucks you as does the one after that.

As the keyboard does not have any physical keys, areas can be assigned to do almost what ever you want. Like play a video.

that is all.

these pictures say it all.

Cardboard Memories

February 28, 2011

Spattered around the internet are these ‘green’ USB sticks that come in various memory sizes. They are called ‘Flashkus‘, from Art. Lebedev Studio

Very cool, and so very functional should you have to give you presentation out on USB, along with a phone number, or pop it in your notebook to share some important ideas during a chance meeting with a client.

either way, if this is the clean minimal, non plastic dildo shaped media storage solutions for the future I am definitely in!

too clean huh?, imagine, ‘hey man got some awesome tracks from RCRD LBL the other day, you want in?’ and with that you tear one off dump the Mp3s on the stick write the artists name which in this case would be ‘cool as fuck’ and pass it on to your friend.

Art. Lebedev Studio believe this is the future of portable media.

iPod Watch/Lunatik

February 26, 2011

It finally arrived in the post.

after waiting since December 2010 it finally came in the post on Thursday of last week. I have been waiting for this for quite some time.

If you haven’t already heard about it, a little before christmas last year the guys from MNML started a Kickstarter.com project to raise $15000 to put into production a cool watch band from the prototypes they had made for the iPod Nano 6th Generation.

They received pledges and backing to the tunes of $941,718. Pretty good huh?

These guys did not go the cheap path either. With two types of band up for grabs I chose the Lunatik. Aircraft Aluminium and tidy black rubber band, for wearing with a swagger of course.

I was planning on saving slowly for a Nano, but much to my own, and others disgust I went and purchased one today.

Whilst they were both a little costly. The total watch price was far less than that of an expensive fossil or medium priced dress watch, and far more functional. See I have a bit of a fetish for wrist watches which borders on addiction, and I have not been able to feed it for quite some time.

This was the perfect opportunity.

Any way on with the post.

T-’.ll v  /||o be honest I thought it may turn up wrapped in sticky tape and a note that said ‘here is your watch thing’  But the packaging was excellent and had that ‘new tech’ smell. All tools were included, and it was on par with the Apple packaging standard that they always live up to with iPod and iPhone products. Ditto for the nano packaging

As always the support that I provided by buying myself an awesomely cool watch is recognised, by Scott Wilson from MNML.

and the packaging although it is simple is very cool, before you open the box it gives you a sneak peak.

With the Nano out of the box and a quick undo of the screws on the watch band itself, I was ready to install, which was BASIC.

With everything in place, I have now got a fully functional wrist-based touch screen iPod, photo album, and watch which is very solid, light and pretty to look at!

iPod main screen^.

In the user settings of the iPod you can just set it to wake to clock. that way each time you want to check the time you just press the ‘wake’ button on the side. then if you want to access the other features of the iPod you can just tap the screen.

I am just a real sucker for gadgets, and besides the iPhone (any model esp 4) and the neoprene Niqab as mentioned in previous post (not that I own one) this is a really cool gadget, and for much less than the cost of a pretty cool watch you have 8gig of very functional storage on your wrist as well as an iPod.

Thus continues my turn to Apple products. Not sure what you guys think but I like this, and it is a little cooler than the $30 rubber ones for sale on eBay.

Compared to a normal watch like my excellent ‘Fossil’ watch which apparently kanye West is too cool to wear now (yes he is a very interesting person we are all thinking the same swear word)

And that is that.

I think its pretty cool.

In a short time I will do another post on MNML themselves, nearly all of their design is eye and brain candy.
