Private Minimal Cube

February 17, 2012

[Via Design Milk]

This place is just amazing. Have I said that before on this site? surely not.

it seems as though through the restriction in space and the high density population the amazing current Japanese architects, are become a form of ‘zen master’ of minimal form and clean non clinical warmth.

Shinichi Ogawa and Associates, are responsible for this master piece, and as can be read in this beautiful article at Design-Milk .

Having a tree encompassed by the house (which includes smoked glass no less) is one of those dream boat things that you hope and prey that by some fortune you can install into your house, even if it is only on a window in a door between the garage and the street.

The rest of Shinichi & friends work is equally amazing, but lets not forget the fact that some terribly talented builders and his team with amazing attention to detail have work from the plan to create this building and give us a glimpse of what minimal heaven may look like if we are sent there after reading or watching too much grand designs.

Going to be planting a tree in our living room as soon as Mrs Panda agrees

Still. Japan.

These photos capture all sorts of emotion and no emotion at the same time.

I feel they give a chance to experience some level of empathy (1:100000000000000) of what the people of Sendai and Fukushima must be feel feeling.

Still thinking of you. Even if the AAP has stoped.

He/She just looks so lonely, and ‘radioactivey’

Ex Container housing project

October 25, 2011

YSMR Architecture are helping out with this awesome temp housing project for earthquake/tsunami effected areas of Japan, built from ex shipping containers these beautifully liveable  housing options, would have to be a lovely and welcome change from tents and demountable housing.

One of the main things voice by the extremely humble people of the Sendai area, was that privacy is something they missed – with the loss of their OWN home and their OWN belongings. These beautifully designed and affordable temp housing solutions go a long way to helping parts of the community to get back on their feet.

Some Art from a war torn Country

April 2, 2011

Some artists have produced these beautiful pictures to help capture the devastation in true Japanese art form.

Perhaps in 1000 years, these will make peoples desktop wallpaper as does the Tsunami over Fuji yama does now with fishermen wrestling the waves in order to keep their life.

Almost Manga-ish. Maybe that how tattoos of Koi started. ?

my Vlog Hero.

March 20, 2011

First of all. To Alexandria (the person posting this is not actually the girl. The comments the girl makes are offensive. These are not views shared by me my family or friends). I cannot believe you attend university, and in the words of my infamous wife “put your boobs away”.  The fact that you decided to “leave the school due to death threats” is such bullshit. I cannot believe the school did not kick your arse out.

To Davidsocomedy: Mate you kill it. funniest thing I have seen in a long time, apart from snorlax attack video (whihc is also a little offensive but I like the voice overs). I am sorry that such a sad sad thing occurred to inspire you on you awesome rant. Thanks for reminding me that happiness and anti-racism reigns supreme, and rest reassured that this girl will have to utilise the only asset she has to make money to buy products made in the many wonderful countries that make up Asia in order to use the internet and post these ridiculous videos.

huh? whats that L…MFAO

and another awesome parody

A letter from Sendai

March 19, 2011

read here

“Things here in Sendai have been rather surreal. But I am very blessed to have wonderful friends who are helping me a lot. Since my shack is even more worthy of that name, I am now staying at a friend’s home. We share supplies like water, food and a kerosene heater. We sleep lined up in one room, eat by candlelight, share stories. It is warm, friendly, and beautiful.

During the day we help each other clean up the mess in our homes. People sit in their cars, looking at news on their navigation screens, or line up to get drinking water when a source is open. If someone has water running in their home, they put out a sign so people can come to fill up their jugs and buckets.”

^this is a bad scene^, a proper bad scene. Thinking of Japan.

it was nice to read this and know that Gaijin are staying and helping instead of running away from the country they lov so much.
